Showcase - Belisarius Cawl

Evening all

Sorry I’ve been somewhat lax with my blog updates of late, trying to write blogs on the IPad isn’t conducive to great writing I’m afraid!
Anyway, I thought it best to catch you up with my latest finished piece.

Belisarius Cawl......

Oh my - What a model.

99% of the time I’m a HUGE advocate for painting minis fully built, I like to see them complete so I can get a feel for what I’m trying to do with the colours but a with Cawl I felt I might have erred on this choice.

Frankly he is a complete and utter pain in the back to paint as a complete unit.

Anyway, seeing as I’d already glued him together there was little I could do about it so just set about him with the brush, attacking the metal work with the airbrush to get a base of lead beltcher down before painting the robes.

Something I have noticed with my painting of late is that whilst previously I would often block out all the base colours of a model before going back to add washes and highlights at a later time, I’m more often focusing on one section until completion before moving to the next. So as the pic above shows I started and finished the robes before going to do the metalwork with a brush. After the silver of the bodywork I went to the copper edge work and so on and so forth, trying to complete bits - looking for the ‘wins’, those bits where your happy with a part and can call it done.

Cawl seriously tested my patience, I must have somewhere in the region of 30 hours or more in him? He was daunting by his sheer level of detail. Moreover, the fact that I could (and did) spend 5 hours painting him one Saturday and couldn’t really see where the time had gone was infuriating, it was simply swallowed in the lower level of the model. But I feel the ground work payed off and as the final few hours started I was able to see parts coming together quickly.

Here’s some pics of him in his final form :)

Anyway, there you have him. Personally I’m pretty chuffed with him, I think he’s one of my personal best and I learnt a lot from him.

I hope you like him as well :)

Thanks all for reading, until next time.

If it's not covered in mud or blood then frankly son, you ain't Krieging hard enough!

Evening all, Dark Bristles here with a little update as too what I've been up too of late.
A good few months back I showed off a Krieg Vanquisher tank that I'd finished up....
Well my good buddy and I decided to partake in the doubles tourney this coming weekend at Worcester Wargames and I decided to give my self a (frankly pretty tight) deadline of getting 1K of my Krieg all finished up and ready to war.

So after sitting up for a while smashing out various ideas for lists, I settled on what I wanted to take and set about pumping out squads of infantry as quick as possible. Bearing in mind however this is my own personal army and a force I've been wanting to paint for a long long time (ever since I returned to the hobby in fact) I was adamant I wanted to keep the standard as high as I could.

So tight deadline and self imposed high standard. Fun fun.

I supposed a good place to start was the top of the chain so Company Command Squad with converted Master of Ordanace.....

Infantry Platoon Squads - 2 of these, a Platoon Command Squad and 3 Heavy Weapon Auto Cannon teams

Cheeky pic of the big guns....

Death Korps Death Riders. My absolute favourite models that's FW produce, I love them. PAIN IN THE BUTT to paint however haha. Found them really tricky! Powered through though and am pleased with the results.

So this is the complete force....1k of Death Krops of Krieg. Or 15 Blast Templates a turn minimum depending on how you count it :)

Anyway, this is to be run alongside my friends Militarum Tempestus formation, I'm the shield, him the the spear. Together, the Emperors Hammer!

I'll be doing my very best trying to take pictures over the course of the three games so stay tuned for a full event write up early next week :)

Thanks for looking guys and girls - Catch you in a bizzle.

Using the Interwebs for Hobby Purposes - Video Battle Reports

Hi All,

Welcome to the second post in the irregular series that is "Using the Interwebs".  The first post in this series can be found here.  This post will concentrate on video battle reports.  As no doubt most of you reading this will know, there is a mass of video battle reports out there.  In fact you could replace TV completely with video bat reps should you wish too!

Having tried to put together a video battle report recently I have clearly realised the decent ones have good equipment, delivery, beautifully painted armies and scenery..... in short they are a challenge to get right.

Video battle reports can be used for multiple reasons.  So what can we gleen from video battle reports?  First off, along with podcasts (a future using the interwebs article) it is often something I put on when I am painting but that's not all.  They can be used to; learn the rules, pick up painting inspiration, consideration of tactics for your army and often understanding armies you don't collect.

Many of the volume video battle reporters are sponsored and run a "freeview" and "pay for" channel. Personally I don't pay for any channels as I don't have the time to watch that volume of battle reports. The other thing to note many of these channels offer a free trial if you find a series of videos which particularly interests you.

So the first channel to mention is Miniwargaming.  They have multiple series, rooms and systems. They produce reports for multiple systmes including warhammer 8th edition before the change to AOS.  Some good reports are:

Warhammer 8th featuring Dwarfs and Tomb Kings (my two armies!)

Warhammer 30K - Horus Heresy - This is a different kind of game using Zone Mortalis.

Last battle report to share from miniwargaming is to share the start of one of their narrative campaigns.  They go into a lot of detail to deliver a narrative but unfortunately put some of the reports in their subscription service the "Vault".

The next channel to mention is Table Top Tactics from Lawrence, Beard and the rest.  I like this channel for understanding competitive 40k and list building.  Well as I would like to "be somebody" here is some links:

First up a competitive practice report vs ACEFACE.  In fact that is another good thing about this channel is the link up reports with other youtube battle report channels

Another report this time in collaboration with SN battle reports and also to mention I love the atmospherics at the beginning of the videos.

On to another of the real big boys of battle reports is Striking Scorpion 82.  This channel in my opinion has the best scenery and some stunning painted models.  Perhaps the main criticism is it sticks too much to the same types of games and missions.  Having said that this first video is Apocalypse battle report different to the normal 1850 reports this channel sticks to in the main:

Another slightly different and narrative game involving Steel Legion and Orks (clearly I am drawn to these types of games!).  This is an attack vs defence game.

Ok, I could put links in forever as I like so many video battle report channels but instead, to keep the post to a readable amount here is a list with clickable links of other notable video battle report channels:

Winters SEO - 40K / 30K channel, mentioned in first Using the Interwebs post.
The Legion Wargamming - 40k
The Long War - 40K, Competitive gaming
Aceface - 40K (as featured in report above), Competitive gaming
Geeks 40K Channel - 40K
Bell of Lost Souls - Pretty much all systems, can be very inconsistent in quality
Once Bitten 360 - Fantastic Warhammer 8th Reports, now moved onto the 9th age (not for me) but the channel has a large library.

I could keep going with links but I will stop there at some of the major channels I watch.  I am sure this list is not exhaustive and would ask for you guys to share the links of your favourite  channels below in the comments.

Enjoy the watching

Cheers

Hobby Future - Life the Universe and Everything

Hi All,

Just about all the posts on our blog are normally about sharing progress.  Often cool conversions, explanations of how we achieved the finish and in general a showcase.  I confess that is normally what I do with the exception of the return to code40k campaign myself and Trevdog undertook.  This post however is a DOC editorial straight from my head about where I am at.

I am not entirely sure if this post is for me or for anyone who might read it.  Its certainly an attempt to understand what I want from this hobby which I have been involved in pretty much my whole life. Also yes comment but read whole thing please, it gets the negativity out the way first and moves on from there!

I know you might think this shit is going to get deep!  Fear not it wont! Its about model soldiers how deep can you actually get.

I really like my plastic crack and have a Space Wolves, Eldar, Necron, Renegade Guard, CSM armies all quite large, also I have a 30K pre heresy death guard army in bits, Tomb Kings, Dwarfs.  I also play Xwing, Deadzone, SAGA, Necromunda and have backed Warpath.  This underlines my crazy mad commitment to all things hobby but now its time.....

Time for rant time....

I hate 40k at the moment..... Why and I am sure you have all been here or thought these things:

Codex Creep has become CODEX Warp Speed......
Balance in the game or more to the point the complete lack of it
I cant keep up with the pace of change
I cant paint all the minis I own
I collect too many armies for the speed of release
I haven't got time to play the game
I cant afford to keep up or don't want to any more
White Dwarf and Visions Suck bring back Paul Sawyer
GW business model isn't aimed at me and I have spent thousands with them over the years!
Big isn't necessarily better - Stormsurge you suck if you fell over you would be like Ed209 in the robocop movies screaming around the floor trying to get back up!
A growing gap in the relationship between the fluff and the tabletop
People hate on Forgeworld
Competitive gaming has lost all appeal to me especially in a game which is terribly balanced
He who has the most money wins!
Some formations are extreme to say the least and have the armies don't have em yet!
People still think 1 HQ and 2 Troops works even when there are now armies without HQs!

Thinking about everything something that has come apparent is the group of mates I have played with for years have started to become less GW fanboys and start playing new things.  We use to be staunch 40kers with the odd bit of warhammer before sigmar thrown in.  Now we are not.  We recently had a code40k friendly day and it struck me how low the enthusiasm for the event actually was.  We as a group have changed our mindset and me as model collector has also changed.  Is this a bad thing?

No, but I do think GW have to take a large part of the blame.  The business model hasn't worked it hasn't kept hold of one of the most loyal fan-bases in the world.

So after all this moaning will I still play 40k will I take my models and burn them like a witnessed when sigmar was released.  NO I wont burn my models and no actually I wont sell them off I have been there before and have realised I normally regret it!  Yes I will still play 40k.  So what the fuck has changed then.  I wont for example

Start any new 40k armies for the foreseeable future
Try and keep up - I will get stuff when I'm ready and I really wont be forced by limited run any more
Not sure yet but I'm not feeling the love for tournaments either at the moment
Play pick up games - its the age now where you need to have a chat about what you intend to take. SO ITS FUN FOR BOTH PLAYERS!

Right rant now becomes a positive what's good then DOC why the hell do you collect if you feel like this.

The greatness of the hobby...

I have some life long friends who share my love of the hobby... for example both of the two chaps who were my best men are geeks!
I will talk to complete strangers for hours in the local games stores about the hobby (in the age of mobile that has to be a positive!)
I can still recall great battle moments from 20 years ago!
The last event I did attend at Pork Chop was so much fun... in a pub, drinks, a laugh, the right spirit!
Its social, creative, artistic, you constantly learn new shit!
Its the only topic I could win on mastermind at!
The GW fluff is great (except the new novella for stupid money craze!)
Fully painted armies on well modelled and painted boards still makes think fuck that's ace!

Ok Doc you said something about the future 30 mins ago when I started reading this!

I intend to play a written campaign with Boss Bludtoof spread out over the course of 2016.  A ladder story driven affair.  Innermech is also interested and I wonder if we can write more than two of us into it.  Maybe other Code guys would be interested?  Lets play something that fits with the fluff and utilises what we've got not the arms race!

More important I would really like to play 30K at get my Death Guard up and running.  We have a commitment to our first Heresy game just after Christmas.  Lets do this shit!  This leads me on to the rest of the time.

Lots of variety I don't care any more about being really good at one system...

Going to play X wing more, Deadzone (kick-starter stuff comes in January hell yeah!), Warpath, SAGA, Old school Warhammer....  and lastly on to something that recently has made me think GW have finally woke up and smelt the roses

Battle for Calth... GW that's a hit that's a great idea, great minis stand alone and usable in 3 systems.  Tip my hat you clever gits something special well done!  I will be asking for this for Christmas!

But then when  I was realing from that BOOM the announcement of the return of SPECIALIST GAMES. I absolutely love Necromunda its by far the greatest game I have ever played.  Also Blood Bowl, BFG.  Yes now GW... you get it people don't always have the money and time for mass battles skirmish games have really started to kick your ass.

Yes they are a while out but heck its not like I am short of things to do..........................................

This is one long load of dribble but its my dribble.........  Hope you enjoyed parts of it and the odd thing made you laugh.

Last thing.... Thanks all and more importantly thanks to all the gaming buddies I have battled, painted with and generally chatted to over the years you folk are immense (had to get a lukodakka word in!)

Cheers

Bretonnian Gallant Complete

Hi again,

So I finished my first Bretonnian knight, really enjoyed it too, it's a nice change from the usual 40k stuff I paint. Also nice to not be painting to a deadline! Here's a few piccies if the finished model;

I'm very pleased with the result, the blue is the old foundation paint; mordian blue highlighted with 3 graded white mixes, the orange is the old foundation paint macharius solar orange highlited with 3 or 4 (I can't remember!) graded golden yellow mixes, the leather tack was edge highlighted with mixes of fortress grey (also old paint range) and white and then given a brushed on coat of gloss varnish, the armour was black wash over boltgun metal with drybrushed chainmail and mithril silver over the top and the gold bits were black based first then succesive layers of shining gold, burnished gold and mithril silver highlights. (The model was undercoated in White to start).
For the base I tried for more detail than any of my previous models, (I have been told in the past that my basing techniques have let me down and don't stand upto my painting quality, so I took this on board and for my new aries I will be putting more effort into the bases). I used stone and etched brass pieces from the warhammer basing kit and middenland tufts to give the bases a more 3 dimensional feel than my previous attempts. This is on a sanded base painted with tausept ochre drybrushed up to bleached bone. The pieces of stone I painted with the same shades as handed base but then fished with a final white veil and then a wash of ogryn flesh, this has given a slightly pink hue to the nearly white stone with a marbled effect through it. Hopefully this will be more apparent on the larger models I will paint later, such as the pegasus knights who will be based on sculpted bases representin the ruins of a chapel built from marble, we'll see how it goes .....

So that's it for now, happy modeling.

My first Bretonnian

Hello all. Haven't posted for a while and haven't painted much recently. Spent a while building my recently purchased bretonnian army (well over 4k worth of stuff for a couple of hundred quid. Hurrah for e-bay!) for a big 9k battle we at the code had a couple of weeks ago.
Finally started in on the knights tho and here are few pics of the first knights of the realm gallant.

As you can see it's coming along well. Needs some final highlights and a gloss varnish on the black leather, the device on his shields and barding, a few final details such as the horses eyes and teeth and then the base to do.
I tried the new glazes for the first time on this model; yellow glaze on the orange cloth and blue glaze on the blue cloth, both as the last coat after highlighting. Not convinced yet as to their usefulness in that role but I'll keep experimenting.
All the knights in this army will have unique colour schemes whilst my peasants will all be wearing the colours of my Lord and his house which will include all the heroes who are his sons. As I get more done I'll post pics.

I'm also about to start a goblin army too so that I can switch between the two differing armies and thus painting styles so as to keep my interest up.
More on the green terror later tho...........

That's it for now. More pics to come of the finished gallant soon.

Space Wolves, Desk Tidy and Total Distraction

Hi all,

Doc here,

Slight problem today and over last couple of weeks called FOCUS.  So am I like all hobbyists and tend to jump from one thing to another?  My last post consisted of my work in progress Necrosphinx, which I will post  up soon as it has to be finished by the end of the month.

In the mean time I did some useful stuff like clipping all my sprues out.  Do you guys keep all your spares??  Well I do but got fed up of them taking up too much space!!!  They are now all sorted in to army types using business card holders.

So I also got a game against the Necrons bringing the space wolves out for the first time in just over a year.  Doing that put me in space wolf mood and this was the result:

As well as the fact that the necrosphinx needs finishing I also decided I need to finish Hypa's converted Casket of Souls for our large Warhammer game at the end of June.

So this brings me back to the start again FOCUS.  So the plan is to paint a Space Wolf Thunderwolf for next Sunday night so I can use as a Wolf Lord for the night.  This will also allow me to play fully painted.  Next up Necrosphinx and finally Casket of Souls by 23rd June.  Hopefully by setting myself deadlines ill work to this and NOT start something else? In addition it will hopefully give some nice pics of new minis to show you guys!

Cloak and Dagger The Code's Easter Battle

Hi All,

This is part two of Cloak and Dagger.  Below is the background as written by Trevdog Howler

PART 1

Finuval Windmaker haughtily looked down his nose at the Imperial emissary as they stood at Marienburg docks.  His fleet was moored up and his fellow countrymen unloaded the shipment of war with customary efficiency.  Fellow soldiers of renown were with him and he relished the chance to strike at his hated cousins.  Even though Doc Grunnson’s Dwarf force was two days march ahead of him, he knew he could catch them up.  Doc Grunnson had said to rendezvous at Dunterswald village.  It was little more than a collection of houses and a farmstead.  He didn’t give Finuval a reason for meeting there apart from his message passed on by the emissary made reference to Skaven and a tunnel network that headed toward the village.  Teclis had ordered him to trust the Dwarfs…… but he couldn’t shift the feeling they would be the death of him……

……..They were making good time and kept the pace high.  Grunnson’s men could keep this up for days, even weeks.  He knew he had to get to Dunterswald before the Skaven.  They were up to something big and bad, so a spy from the hold had reported.  He’d heard the Skaven had been extending their network further north along the border of the Laurelorn forest and into the Wastelands.  The reason why escaped him.  The Clans had been amassing and dire warp engines had been at work deep in their lairs.  The spy had come across several references to a relocation of O J Backstabber’s clan to the Wastelands. A mission was going ahead……..

………”Only eight food stops master!” squealed Gibitt to O J Backstabber who was looming over him brandishing a dirty curved blade.  “Seven, no more!” ordered O J as he sank back down off his tip toes.

If he was ever to get his clan to the meeting with the Dark Elf Things in time he had to be quick quick.

Dragit Red Eye had primed the boy and all was set for his big creation.  His tail swished with excitement.  All he had to do was get to the boy and take it from there……. Admittedly he had bargained with the Dark Elf Witch Thing, Lady Maleficent, to bring his cunning plan together.  She would bring her magic cage and once this first monster was contained another and another and another would be made flesh.  He might let her have one.  Squeek squeek squeek! he sniggered……..

……… a silent black tide rolled off the sea and onto the Wasteland.  Lady Maleficent made an almost unnoticeable signal to her army to send them into the next stage of her plan.  Not far now.  Dark comforting thoughts of what she would do with the Skaven’s monster when it was in her hands gave her a thrill.  O J Backstabber had promised her one when she had performed her part of the bargain.  She hadn’t got to be where she was now by following any bargains to the letter.  She would watch out for OJ.  Meet him at Dunterswald.  Well, there was another threat in the form of her hated High elf cousins following up the coast.  She would warn the Skaven.  Need them on her side at least for now.  Then like a dark shadow the host dispersed into the barren land.

PART 2

Cloak & Daggers……a nasty new dawn

Chewing on his bottom lip he stood in the cold morning light with a pale in
his left hand and his other in his mother's hand as she talked to him on the
front doorstep of their farm house. He wasn't listening. He was more concerned
where his little friend had got to. He hadn't seen him in days. Ma and Pa
thought he had an imaginary friend like Samia's, she lived just past the tower
with her Ma and Pa. But his friend was real. Red Eye said he would be back,
and each time he came back he brought something with him. Just a small thing, a
little green bean. Quite innocuous as they were just beans. But Red Eye was
insistent that Aldred keep them safe in the barn. Big people weren't to know.
Aldred was glad he had saved Red Eye from Scratchy the farm cat around three
full moons ago when the cold was at its most fierce. He had gone to the barn
later that day to see to his surprise Scratchy about to pounce on a big brown
rat that had one black and one red eye. He was sure Scratchy would have ended
Red Eye's life in a flash just like the other rats unfortunate to venture into
the barn when the cat was around.
But a strange thought came to him as he watched the stand off between cat and
rat, and before he knew what he was doing he had a broom in his hand and was
scooting Scratchy off. Stranger still was when Scratchy had gone Red Eye fixed
him with a stare and then uttered words to him…….

Red Eye was distraught one day and Aldred didn't know how to help him. Red
Eye said the beans were under threat from someone, and he wanted Aldred to help
him find a better hiding place for them. Red Eye's words and speech was funny
and sometimes made Aldred laugh. But this time Red Eye was serious. "Friend
friend, come come. You must hide them quick quick. Put them in your stomach,
swallow swallow!!" So Aldred did this for his friend. He only saw Red Eye once
more after that. Moorsleib waxed and waned and on the 13th night Aldred went to
the barn in a midnight sweat and retched up a large dark shinny green bean. He
thought it best to keep it hidden on him until he could tell Red Eye what had
happened. And day after day it grew a little bigger.

"Are you listening to me Aldred? Oh, just go get half a pale of water from
the well. Off you go then."

The cold morning light was still too weak this early to add colour to his
surroundings. He couldn't even see the steam of his breath. At the well he
hooked the pale to the tether of rope below the winch, then he let the weight of
it whirl the handle round until the splash would signal the water below…….. a
dull thud was the signal this time.

"Ma! There's no water in the well!" Aldred cried out.

As the light grew stronger his surroundings became clearer, and he froze as
he saw the movement of many, many figures coming toward Dunterswald and his Pa's
farmstead.

The final part of Cloak and Dagger the report will be published tomorrow!

Cloak and Dagger The Prologue

Hi All,

DOC GRUNNSON HERE,

So this is part one of a three day run down of Cloak and Dagger our Easter Warhammer Battle.  Today's post will describe the prologue to the battle.  Tomorrows post will bring you the background story and lastly the report post will bring you the battle report which will be published on Thursday.

So here is the prologue:

Cloak and Dagger - Prologue

One hundred and thirteen miles north of the large sea port of Marienburg on the west coast of the empire, literally just inside the border of the empire and the northern wastes is the village known as Dunterswald in the Wasteland. Holgan’s farmstead is near to the village and has been the attention of the Skaven for some time. A good reason for a slave raid by the Dark Elves perhaps, but why have they joined up with the Skaven?  The Dark Elf raiding fleet is quite a size and is able to slip into a remote and quiet part of the Empire's coast.  The Skaven have been hard at work extending their tunnel network and have a sizeable hoard waiting in the dark tunnels. In anticipation of the "Dark pointy things" arrival the Skaven have infiltrated Holgan’s farmstead close to the coast.  This will be the rendevous!

However, the Elves in white have had wind of their dark cousins movements toward the Empire coast, having recently had a naval engagement and lost to their cousin’s much larger fleet.  This fleet was heading at speed.  Word was then sent to a High Elf contingent that has a small fleet that passes the port of Marienburg at times to go and warn the empire of the approaching Dark Elves.  The Marienburg forces are currently dealing with a threat from the Northern Wastes to the north east of the Empire and have little in the way to send up to meet any raid on their coast.  Fortunately, a large force of Dwarfs that had agreed to help bolster the Northern part of the Empire had arrived in Marienburg around a month ago. They have agreed to secure the West coast.  The Dwarf lord met with the Marienburg Count Elector and a High Elf emissary to agree joint action against the Dark Elves.

Little do they expect the intervention of the Skaven......

We were also provided a map of the area:

So this is what started off the battle and scenario building process.  We then provided Trev (battle co-ordinator) with our leaders names and a little bit about them:

DOC
My Dwarf is called DOC GRUNNSON
cause he can fix any situation.
He's an engineer turned general! Likes experimenting and he’s had some of his experiments stolen by the sneaky Skaven.

DARTH DARLOW
Meet the Maleficent Family

Lady Maleficent
Sorceress (Matron Mother)
Dark Pegasus

Count Maleficent
Dreadlord (Patron)
Black Dragon

Pernicious
Sorceress (Daughter)

Captain Duress
Battle Standard Bearer (Old Family Retainer)
Giant Cold One

Ironically the corsairs didn't make the trip over the Sea of Claws and are still in the Land of Chill awaiting a paint job.

On this raid only Lady Maleficent will be present as the Count's Dragon gets sea sick, plus he's allergic to cannons.

The rest of the family will probably be there along with lots of spiky death.

HENDRIX LAMBERT

My general is O J Backstabber.  He’s climbed and backstabbed his way up the Clan to become top rat.  Part of his plan is to extend his tunnel network up to the Chaos wastes, and ultimately become a member of the Council of Thirteen.

TREVDOG HOWLER

My leader is Finuval Windmaker, a Lothern Sea Lord.  He has a grudge against the Dark elves as each time they have crossed paths he has been beaten by them.  Will this time be different?  Lady Maleficent and Finuval Windmaker go back a long way.  They stood shoulder to shoulder a long time ago……

So this was our start to the process of us creating a game around the fluff and to be honest, with every player having played WFRP at some point of time it suited us all.  So as stated above tomorrows post will bring you the fully developed background for the game.

Completed Tomb King Ushabti

Well I've finished my first Ushabti and did my usual thing of starting off painting a unit and ending up painting one of the models just to see how it would turn out.
Brief run down of how i painted the model (Yes I'm not the worlds best painter!).

Blue areas started with a wash of Necron Abyss, followed by a heavy dry brush of hawk turquoise. I then added white and progressively dry brushed lighter. Its important that each time you have less and less paint on the brush.

Gold Areas, First a burnished gold base coat followed by a wash of skaven brown ink. I then line painted burnished gold over the top taking care to leave the recesses darker, finally i highlighted with shining gold on the edges.

Skin areas were base coated with charadon granite and then simply dry brushed by adding dheneb stone to the base coat picking out the raised areas. A final highlight was applied of dheneb stone to the finger bones and other highly prominent areas.

Robed areas were first washed with a 50/50 mix of skaven brown ink and devlan mud wash. This was then dry brushed with Khemri Brown (aptly named colour!) I then layered a very watery coat of bleached bone on the top taking to leave the recessed areas. Finally i highlighted the edges with a bleach bone and white mix.

Any advice to improve the model would be greatly received and if i can help any one else with their models give me a shout.
