Pre Heresy Death Guard Assault Marines Showcase - Squaduary 2019

Hi All,

Doc here with my finished squaduary project for 2019.  I have been showing progress of these over on instagram (code40kdoc) and facebook.  I have my first ever heresy event at the end of March so I am needing to crack on!

This unit is one of my troop choices and unusually for my death guard are quite fast with jump packs.  As always the first stage is to get the base white done.  As this is an army project its about being able to pump out large numbers of models in a relatively short time so my white recipe is:

Airbrush Vallejo Grey Primer
Recess Wash Agrax Earthshade
Airbrush top down and 45 degree angle white

Ta da thats it!  Then I paint up all the rest of the gubbins and end with some sponge weathering using GW leadbelcher.  Here are some showcase photos:

Just to say due to time constraints transfers will be revisited later on if time permits before the event.  Hope you like constructive feedback is welcome!

Cheers

Arming for the Cypra Incident.......Looted Wagon

Hi All

Bluddtoof here with another update on my work for Waaagghhhh! Bluddtoof and our narrative campaign; "The Cypra Incident; Birth of The Beast of Cypra"
This time it's a shiny new Looted Wagon....

This is the fourth one I've built over the 20 years since I started this army, and definitely my favourite so far. It's based on a leman russ chassis which I widened and reversed the track sections. Then it was a simple matter of taking weapons from my bits box, the kilkannon was a spare from a battle wagon kit, the zap gun is actually a Forge world big zzappa but I like the oversized nature. The rokkits are old white metal from the depths of a 30 year old bits box, I frankly have no idea, please let me know if you recognise em.

Here's a few more angles...

I love this model and I had a blast painting it, I applied a lot of sponge weathering and a combination of blended washes and weathering powders to try for a really grubby look. After the near catastrophe of the Deffkoptas I really reined in the colour palette for this and focused on a very red look.
I also did this on the last model for the next campaign mission; a wazbommblastajet which will be the subject of my next post.

Hope you like this, as ever C & C welcome.

Showcase Knight Armigers - Battlefield Birmingham Prep Rolls on

Hi All,

Doc here to showcase my pair of Imperial Knight Armigers.  Love these figures and so pleased with the outcome.  In a copy of Boss Bludtoofs format I will do the showcase pictures first followed by some WIP shots.

I have decided to stick to the pre hersey Makabius colour scheme so they match my Acheron Knight.  Eventually I will move to the option to play a full knight army with a lancer and gallant squirrelled away still to be built.

The other reason I am happy with these is I am going further into a model before coming away from the airbrush.  I started just priming with the airbrush.  For these models I put first layers down on all the metal, metallic blue and cream.  Then I braved painting the feet and exhaust vents without masking and was pleased to find out my aim and skills allowed that to work.

I am also pleased with the basic conversion work to increase the movement in the poses and the raiding of the bits box bases have worked well also.  Right DOC enough waffle show us the minis!

Some WIP shots

Any constructive feedback is welcome.  I now have 6 Scions and 1 vulture left to complete before mid June Battlefield Birmingham event.

Cheers

Heresy Era Imperial Fists; Characters and Command

Hi All

Bluddtoof here with some more of my expanding Heresy Era Imperial Fists; this is quite possibly the most enjoyable army I've ever painted in my 30 years in the hobby. So much fun to do and I'm really pleased with the finish too, so win win for me!
This project was to get all the character models I had painted up, these 4 models were part of my stag do present from the code boys and include Alexis Pollux and Sigismund and the Imperial Fists Command set; a Praetor and Standard Bearer.
The models were all nice and easy to build, I didn't do much in the way of modification except to change the Praetors pistol out for a serpenta, mainly cos I like the look of it. The only issue I had was with Sigismund's sword which was very warped, lots of heating and shaping later and it's now almost straight but simply wouldn't flatten completely.
Pics of the finished models...

Pollux

Sigismund

Praetor

Standard Bearer

And a whole bunch of wip shots of them...

Very pleased with these and the Legion is slowly growing.
Next up will be a Rapier Weapon Battery of 3 Quad Bolters and crew which will form my entry into "Stepping between games" "Squadruary" event.

C&C welcome as ever.
