Hello All
Welcome to the launch post for our annual December blog event. This is our 5th year running a December event and coming up with a good pun each year seems to get harder. Anyway this years award for top pun -ditry goes to Gumby for coming up with Lords a Reaping a blog event all about big things, 'Lords of War'.
This should hopefully mean CODE40k members working on and posting up stuff all about lords of war.
As for me I shall be tackling my re paint on my baneblade complete with some OSL. As usual in early January I will write up a summary post to share all our final efforts and name / shame those who have FAILED!
To get you in the mood here is a trip down memory lane with our December blog events complete with some links:
2013 Dreadful December - This was all about the dreads for the first year see our efforts here
2014 Forgemas - This was all about getting those forgeworld units on the table with this year being dominated by Boss Bludtoofs gorgeous ? see here (which actually wasn't finished till the end of feb but what the heck!)
2015 Ho Ho Ho Horus Heresy - This featured a lot of well painted heresy characters check it all out here
2016 Dismember December - A change for last year as we all went for painting the free slaughter priest mini. Check them out here
So what does the 2017 picture look like? well drum roll.....
If anybody out there in blogosphere or the real world wants to join in then please do paint up and share your efforts via our facebook page. I will then share your blog / link in the final post.
Thats all folks......

Code40k's Annual December Special - Dismember December
Hi all,
Doc here with the launch post for our fourth annual December event. In the last 3 years we've had Dreadful December, Forgemas and Ho Ho Ho Horus Heresy. So yes we like 'PUNS'. This years special event is called Dismember December (thanks Luko Dakka).
So yes we are Khorne themed this year but why? Well back in September we all got a lovely Slaughter-priest model for free and we thought it would be fun if we all paint up our priest for this years event and then let you guys 'our readers' vote for the best paint job.
That's not all this year we would like you to send us your painted slaughter-priests and maybe even blog about your entries. All you have to do to enter is email your entry to code40kblog@gmail.com. Please include your name and if you have blogged about it some blog post links all will be included in the final voting post.

So look out for our WIP posts throughout December culminating with a voting post at the end of December or early January to decide the winner. Before anybody asks about the rules yes you can convert the model the only rule is the free model must be the base model.
Good luck all may the best DOC win (woops) may the best painted mini win!
Cheers

Announcing Code40K's third annual December event HO HO HO HORUS HERESY 2015
Hi All,
Welcome to announcement post for Code40k's third December event. For the last two years we have run an event in December to help motivate us all to get stuff painted. Two years we ran the Dread-Full December event. The final post is here if you are interested in seeing some great painted dreads.
Last year we ran forgemas an event aimed at getting us painting various forgeworld stuff we own. This year we have decided to go for Ho Ho Ho Horus Heresy. Well the title gives it away needless to say most of the code40k line up have bought stuff to play Horus Heresy only after a couple of years adult life has really prevented it!
So for this years December event we decided to focus in on Horus Heresy. So watch out for various building and painting posts on heresy over the coming month. At the end of the month I will post up the completed projects and we can all vote for our favourite.
I have already began the process with some deathguard and will share my progress soon.
Happy December all and Code40k guys get going lol!
Cheers

Dreadful December the voting
Hi All,
I hope you have enjoyed the code's event Dreadful December. Now on to the voting..... We would like you to help us judge who the winner of our best painted dread will be. Yes code guys you can vote but not for your own. Please put a comment with the name of the dread you think looks best out of the following dreads. One lucky winner chosen at random will receive some codedesigns bases as a thank you.
I have chosen the best of the entries and have concluded the entry must be fully complete in order to be entered. That of course means I'm an epic failure for my own idea (I've snuck an old dread in no one will notice!).
First off Toonboy78's Grey Knight Dreadnought:
Full post details and further pictures can be found here. Other work in progress posts can also be viewed.
Next up Boss Bludtoofs Contemptor Dreadnought:
Full post details and further pictures can be found here and here.
Next Boss Bludtoof's Second Entry The Mega Dread:
Next up Luko Dakkas Nurgle Hellbrute:

Dreadful December - Space Marine Dreadnought Collection
This project that we started was great as it gave me impitus to get on and paint something. I have already painted 6 dreadnaughts for a previous tournament last year.
Here they are
I have 2 ironclads
2 close support dreads
And 2 long range support dreads
They were part of a drop pod list which worked surprisingly well.
The work with the dreads and the new marine codex (inc forgeworld) updates I quite fancy the salamander hq dread in a Lucius drop pod.
I have a few plans to set in motion for the upcoming Worcester War 2 in February.
The new marine codex has plenty of options so I need to sit down with a bottle of good red wine to see what lists I can come up with
See you in 2014
Grey Knight Dread - Dreadful December Complete
I don't like leaving something until the last minute but at this crazy time of year it couldn't be helped.
I have completed the Grey Knight Dread.
I generally keep a small amount of colours to a model but I have tried to make the force weapon look a little more psychic.
There is also the Dark eldar "in bits"
And finally here is the psycannon
Here is the dread with the rest of my Grey Knight force
I have a further post which has all my other dreads for my marine army

Dread-full December, Thunderbolts Dreadnoughts.
Hi All
Continuing with the Dread-full December theme, here are the rest of my Marine Dreadnoughts. Along with my new Contemptor these make up my 9 strong Ancients Assault Force.
Here's piccies of them all;
With Plasma Cannon;
With Quad Autocannon;
With Lascannon;
With Assault Cannon;
Fire Support;
With Multi-melta;
Ironclad with Chainfist;
Ironclad with Seismic Hammer conversion and Hurricane Bolters;
And finally the Contemptor;
And all 9 together;
As you can tell I like Dreadnoughts, I plan to build a Mortis pattern Contemptor too in the future, probably with Quad Lascannons and I have the remains of an old metal venerable left after all my recent conversion work, he'll get some new arms when I've decided what I want him to have.
As I've been touching up and converting these models recently it's become apparent how much my painting style has changed over the years since I started the Thunderbolts, how much I've improved but also how marked the changes in the GW paint range have been. Originally I used Ice Blue, now I use Lothern Blue, I'm carefully nursing my last bottle of Dark Angels Green because its' replacement; Caliban Green is totally different, when mixed with white, for highlights, it produces a much greyer tone. On the other hand Ceramite White is far superior to Skull White, giving better opacity and coverage and a much brighter finish. The brass has changed from the original Dwarf Bronze through Brazen Brass to a newer Dwarf Bronze and back to a newer Brazen Brass and is now the new Brass Scorpion. Don't even get me started on red! Suffice to say I'm now using the 3 new shades of red in layers, most notably on my Techmarines all of whom are either new builds or were stripped and repainted recently in the new reds.
So that's it for now. I'll be posting some pics of my existing Ork walkers soon as part of Dread-full December.
