Khemri Blood Bowl Team - Showcase

Evening All

Doc here with a showcase of my completed converted Tomb Kings / Khemri team.  They are all converted from the old GW range now out of production.  I will say this was a fun little project and I decided to complete a full 16 player roster (ever hopeful that I might get to that number).

So the rest of the post is going to be very picture heavy.....

Full team shot including converted turn, re roll and score markers

In action against skaven in my first game a 3-0 loss (eek) I will say they are a hard team to play at first

Ok so close ups

All my Lineman

Tomb Guard (yes I can start with 4 strength 5 blockers!)

Blitz Ra's (why Ra's its a throwback to how they used to be named in a previous version of the game)

Thro Ra's (one using the human ball and one the orc ball)

My converted counters (seemed easy to do using the bitz box)

So what do you reckon of the team comments are always welcome the base names have caused a split opinion amongst the code40k players what do you reckon needed or not?

Cheers All

Khemri Blood Bowl Team - WIP - Blood Bowl Fever 2017

Evening All,

As blood bowl fever has reached fever pitch here at code40k I have decided to go with a tomb king themed team.  It also seems to make economic sense being as I have a large warhammer army that I havent barely used for the last two years!

So off I went chopping, filing and basing on 32mm's to match the new pitch size.  I decided to build a full roster plus re roll, score and turn marker hey you might as well go whole hog right!

So as the title suggests this is still work in progress but with our first bloodbowl day approaching on the 5th March I need to keep up the momentum.  So here is a few pictures of the completed models which as yet are not transferred up but will be soon...

Skeleton Lineman "Mad Eye"

First Tomb Guardian (old metal figure with weapons removed)

Two More Skeleton Lineman (including "thumbs up") Plenty of room for humour in blood bowl!

Group shot of the 4 completed models

Lastly the work in progress pile all of various stages of completion.  Once I get further I will get some photos taken in Innermech's photo both.  I will also photo up our first bloodbowl day on the 5th March which promises to be a whole load of fun!

As always comments and critique is always welcome

Cheers

Space Wolves, Desk Tidy and Total Distraction

Hi all,

Doc here,

Slight problem today and over last couple of weeks called FOCUS.  So am I like all hobbyists and tend to jump from one thing to another?  My last post consisted of my work in progress Necrosphinx, which I will post  up soon as it has to be finished by the end of the month.

In the mean time I did some useful stuff like clipping all my sprues out.  Do you guys keep all your spares??  Well I do but got fed up of them taking up too much space!!!  They are now all sorted in to army types using business card holders.

So I also got a game against the Necrons bringing the space wolves out for the first time in just over a year.  Doing that put me in space wolf mood and this was the result:

As well as the fact that the necrosphinx needs finishing I also decided I need to finish Hypa's converted Casket of Souls for our large Warhammer game at the end of June.

So this brings me back to the start again FOCUS.  So the plan is to paint a Space Wolf Thunderwolf for next Sunday night so I can use as a Wolf Lord for the night.  This will also allow me to play fully painted.  Next up Necrosphinx and finally Casket of Souls by 23rd June.  Hopefully by setting myself deadlines ill work to this and NOT start something else? In addition it will hopefully give some nice pics of new minis to show you guys!

Necrosphinx Work in Progress

Hi All,

Ok so nobody has posted for a while.  Well the SVA and Carnage excitement has died down and now its back to reality.

Excuses over...

Ive done a little work on my Necrosphinx, it is one huge model and feel it may take a while to get too completion.  Heres some pics in progress please feel free to comment and suggest ways to improve the finish.

1st picture is base colours and 1st line highlight on the blue stone body

2nd picture shows the completed base colours followed by a wash of the gold.

3rd picture shows: The first part of finished gold on the model for a test... burnished gold highlights and a touch of mithrill silver to pick out the edges.

Final picture shows the first wing completed as a test for the red highlighting.  Gold completed as above.

More pictures to follow when i have some more finished.

Thats All Folks.

Completed Tomb King Ushabti

Well I've finished my first Ushabti and did my usual thing of starting off painting a unit and ending up painting one of the models just to see how it would turn out.
Brief run down of how i painted the model (Yes I'm not the worlds best painter!).

Blue areas started with a wash of Necron Abyss, followed by a heavy dry brush of hawk turquoise. I then added white and progressively dry brushed lighter. Its important that each time you have less and less paint on the brush.

Gold Areas, First a burnished gold base coat followed by a wash of skaven brown ink. I then line painted burnished gold over the top taking care to leave the recesses darker, finally i highlighted with shining gold on the edges.

Skin areas were base coated with charadon granite and then simply dry brushed by adding dheneb stone to the base coat picking out the raised areas. A final highlight was applied of dheneb stone to the finger bones and other highly prominent areas.

Robed areas were first washed with a 50/50 mix of skaven brown ink and devlan mud wash. This was then dry brushed with Khemri Brown (aptly named colour!) I then layered a very watery coat of bleached bone on the top taking to leave the recessed areas. Finally i highlighted the edges with a bleach bone and white mix.

Any advice to improve the model would be greatly received and if i can help any one else with their models give me a shout.

Further Progress

Ive made further progress with ushabti, they are particularly difficult to paint around the torso. The interesting thing about photgraphing your models as you go along is you notice parts you've missed or which could be better when the photograph is zoomed in!
