Worcester War The Results

Hi All,

DOC here so WW13 has been and gone.... and what an event it was.  I intend to do a few posts on the back of the event.  One to discuss what I have learnt about running an event, one to showcase the pictures and this one to congratulate the winners / publish the event.

So the results sheets are available here:

Ok so pic fest time, first off a massive thanks to Dave C and Cherrie for taking the pictures and then sending them over to me.

So the overall winner was Mr Dave Metcalfe or Toonboy 78 as he is known on the blog.

That's Dave on the left and me pulling one wacky face on the right!  Dave is no stranger to winning events and announced before the event you might aswell put my name on the certificate now.  Well he lived up to the bravado.  Who will knock him off the perch at the code's next event?  Dave's army:

In 2nd place overall we have Mark Platt from Cheltenham Warchiefs.  Congratulations and thanks to all the players from the chiefs who came up for the day.  If you are from that area and fancy having games with a great bunch of guys their club website is here.

Who says close assault is dead in 6th!!!!!!!

Watch out for the fly by!!!

3rd Place Overall went to our own Luke Hemming or Lukodakka as he is known on the blog.  Luke also took home 2nd Place in the painting competition. So here is a small showcase of his army:

So on to the overall painting winner that went to our Matt Tweedy Thompson who is known as boss bludtoof on the blog so naturally he won with his orks right nope the emperors finest and chapter of his own devising the Thunderbolts lightning strike in:

Anti Air Dread!!

Ok so Luko finished 2nd in the painting as explained above and in 3rd place we come to Jason Band's Tau army or Red Mist as he is known round these parts.  Unfortunately Jason had to run off quickly at the end of the event as the picture will show.

Lastly but by no means least we have the most sporting opponent winner.  This was won by Kurt Lewendon from the Warchief's.  For me Kurt optimised the atmosphere of the whole event fun and friendly!

Well folks that's the run down of the winners at Worcester War 13.  We are currently in discussion to propose a winter war event in November time.  So I have masses of photos which I will be publishing in the future in other articles all that remains to be said is thanks for all those who attended.  I have learnt once again that which I already knew I cant pose for photos or can I..........

SVA XII Build Up & Chaos Daemons Project

Its been a while but I'm back,
I've had a super busy time of late, so lets start back at the end of SVA XI.
I'd just finished preparing my monster cheesy Chaos double lash uber list. Well as suspected it was overly powerful at times and many of my games were spent apologising for the 6 direct hit plasma cannons that massacred their targets each turn. My punishment for the amount of edam that I was serving was Space Wolves...and so my hatred/love of Space Wolves continued, still I managed 2 draws, so 3 wins & 2 draws was pretty awesome.
My findings from this, a cheesy list is very forgiving, it will let you take it easy in that 4th game when you're a bit burnt out. When you're on it though, it can be seriously powerful and will relentlessly smash your opponent into submission. The Lash to be honest is not the powerful part, the fear of lash is probably worse, the deal maker is the obliterators, these guys are immense! Countless games I used them to tear chunks out of my opponents and when there was armour available on the table then "Blam!" they switch on the Melta or Lascannon and tore it a new one. Great stuff!
Anyway back to the run up to SVA XII
This year I wanted to bring something fluffy and with a great bit of character but would also be fun to play with.
I had a great idea inspired by Desertfox over on his website
http://www.the-vanus-temple.com/gallery/blood-angels/
check it out its very cool.
Well last year it was my 30th and The Code guys clubbed together and hooked me up with my new Sanguinary Guard army.
The list was basically: -
Commander Dante
4-5 lots of Sanguinary Guard
2 Furioso/Librarian Dreadnoughts
2 Sang Priests
I quickly got them all stuck together and Hypaspist had written a great campaign as a run up to SVA XII for me to test them out in. Well after 7 or so games it was clear to me that if I was to have a great weekend at SVA XII I needed to take something that was a little less intense to play with. The sanguinary guard are really unique army but the model count in an army of this nature is so taxing to play with. The 1st turn is make or break usually, if you take heavy casualties then you're in an uphill struggle. If it was not for the absolute obscene power that Dante can unleash then the army would be quite flawed. He can single handedly take on an army if you can avoid the instant death long enough. In combat he is a beast, hive tyrants, no problem, Archons, piece of cake, Deff dredds.....well 2 out of 3 ain't bad, avoid the latter like the plague.
I'll post up some pics of the work in progress as I return to them because as the other guys know I ended up not taking them to SVA. Instead I decided to stick to the Chaos theme and plumped for Chaos Daemons, flavour = Nurgle.

THE NURGLE DAEMON CHAOS PROJECT
I came to this decision in January and calculated that if I started then and continually Glued/Built/Converted & Painted like a crazed mek till SVA then I could get it all done.
I picked a list I had tinkered with in the past and had a fairly solid idea of what I was going to include. I purchased everything I needed over the next couple of months and hammered away in secret at my diseased pretties.
I will post up some work in progress shots but for now here is the finished Army on their display board.
Plaguebearers converted from Crypt Ghouls
Plague Toad Riders (Counts as Bloodcrushers)
Nurgle Daemon Princes
More Plague Toad Riders (Counts as Bloodcrushers)
Soul Grinder converted from Defiler & Giant
Forgeworld Great Unclean One I used as Scabiaethrax & Ku'gath @ SVAXII
Newly Improved GUO
and all the hard work paid off....
Hope you like it all!

Next time I'll post up some more of the army as I worked on it and a few tips and conversion techniques. I'll also run through the fantastic SVA XII and how the Nurgle Daemons faired. I'd also eventually like to touch on Airbrushing which is my new found friend.
Anyways, till next time

I'm Back!

Well after a long break since my last post I thought it was about time I updated everything I've been working on. So here you go!
Cast your minds back to christmas, the best time to be thinking about what projects to start, as if you've been a good boy, Santa Claus might bring you some nice new shiny's!
With my mind focused on the most excellent Spiky Clubs, up and coming SVA Tournament, I was keen to be ready as the last year I was painting right up to the last second.
The last time I took my orks so this time I wanted to take something different for 2 reasons.
First of all I wanted to take something more competitive as although my list previously wasn't terrible, it wasn't really picked to smash the opposition to bits. So I'm flicking through various Codex' for inspiration & what I'd need to make a competitive Tournament Army. I asked myself "Whats a really competitive (cheesy) army that is quite forgiving and means I won't get my ass handed to me like last time?"
"DOUBLE LASH"........oooh thats a bit cheesy I thought.........oh well....

Ok so I wasn't going to make any new friends but hey, friends are overrated ;-)
So with no apologies intended, I went for the following ballbusting, no god preference, beast of a cheese list: -
Chaos Space Marines 2000pts List

2 Daemon Princes (Mark of Slannesh, Double Lash, Wings)

Greater Daemon

7 Nurgle Plague Marines (Champ - Powerfist,Melta) 1
Rhino (Extra Armour)

7 Nurgle Plague Marines (Champ - Powerfist,Melta) 2
Rhino (Extra Armour)

7 Nurgle Plague Marines (Champion) 3
Rhino

8 Khorne Bezerkers (Champ - PW)
Rhino (Extra Armour)

3 Obliterators
3 Obliterators
Defiler

The 1500pts version was without the defiler, greater daemon and nurgle/rhino squad 3 & the Oblits are split into 3 squads of 2.
SIMPLES.

So Crimbo came and I hooked myself up with 2 brand new swanky daemon princes and a couple of rhinos and I was ready to start building and painting.
I began painting straight away but with a January 31st honeymoon to Australia for 4 weeks lined up, that was obviously the deadline date. Well as my fellow bloggers will testify, I wouldn't be me, if I didn't leave it all to the last minute. By the deadline date, to give myself credit, I had completed most of it but still needed to finish off a nurgle squad & a rhino. I then decided, after contracting a heavy dose of painting fatigue, It would be best finished when I got back from Oz, and it was.....the night before.....till 6:30am in my pants!!! Suffice to say, the boys weren't too impressed or really surprised for that matter! But hey, all done in the end! Still a little sketchy based on the time frame but I can always go back in and finish them off another time, as long as they were tabletop ready I was happy :-)
So heres some of the latest additions mostly finished: -

Converted Obliterators

Greater Daemon of Nurgle (sculpted & painted)

Plague Marines (Work in Prog) Champ & Guy to right finished only

Daemon Prince No.1

Daemon Prince No.2
Well theres just a handful of images to look at for now but i'll post up some more this week. I'll post up a couple of battle reports from SVA XII and how the Double lash got on at the weekend. I'll also post the start of my next project which I plan on starting this week -
The Sanguinary Guard Army
