The Cypra Incident, Scenery WIP

Hey all,

Bluddtoof here with a quick update on my work on the scenery set for mission 2 of our upcoming narrative campaign.
I've now completed the build of the fencing (20 uprights with various configurations of panel supports and a total of 14 panels, 3 of which are ruins and a set of hinged gates) and have started on the first watchtower.
Here's a few pics of the tower ....

The first 3 are the balsa carcass in progress and the last 3 are with the watchtower complete with a basic roof and with some fencing in a couple of possible configurations.
The issue now is whether I leave the tower as is and paint it, in which case the grain will show, or I'm considering plasticard cladding to simulate metal, complete with rivets. The second option will look far better but will involve a lot more work and this is tower 1 of 4! I'll make that decision tomorrow I think. One thing I will change is the mesh flooring on the other towers; I'll not cut out the central hole in future, it doesn't really show once occupied and limits model placement, a full mesh floor with a hatch will be better.

More to come soon, as ever comments welcome...

Perimeter Breach! The Cypra Incident, Scenery WIP.

Hey All

Bluddtoof with another WIP post for my Fencing Terrain project.
I've completed all the uprights now and 2 more damaged and breached fence panels.
I currently have enough tubing to make 5 more panels but with an order on the way I'll soon be able to complete plenty more. As I stated in the previous post I want at least 12 intact panels so we can simulate a large intact compound, the broken one swill allow for a ruined compound effect.
Here's a couple of pics of the work so far...

Hope you like, as ever C and C welcome.
More to come soon...

"Don't Fence Me In.....", The Cypra Incident. WIP.

Hey All

Bluddtoof here with the first WIP post for a new terrain set I'm building to be used in our upcoming Narrative Campaign; "The Cypra Incident".
As I said in my last post Doc and I need to represent a military compound in the 2nd mision of our story, whichever way it goes; either an Imperial Compound or an Orky scrap yard. So we decided a set of fences and watchtowers would fit in either scenario.
To this end I've started on a set of fencing panels and uprights; I wanted a flexible but simple set which would be easy to store and light and manageable on the table. Here's what I've come up with...

The above shot is of 2 uprights and 1 panel, the 3 pieces are separate and thus the whole set will be flexible enough to lay out in lots of ways, some of the uprights will have supports at right angles and a few will be 3 or 4 way supports to allow for more flexibility.

Above shows a damaged panel in 2 different positions, to provide stability and strength the uprights on either side of the broken panel are fixed. I intend to make a max of 3 of these breached panels, the rest will be intact and fully flexible.
The bases of the uprights will also get some scenic work; tufts of grass and vines and such. I'll also be adding a few rivets to the upper panel supports.

The raw materials are pretty basic;

Uprights: small GW round bases, Plastruct 4.8 mm styrene tubing, 1 mm plasticard and Plastruct 4.8 mm styrene column.

Panels: Plastruct 3.2 mm styrene tubing and Isopon aluminium mesh (for repairing holes in car bodywork)

The mesh I bought at my local hardware store at a couple of quid per sheet which makes 4 of the 5"x 3" panels , the Plastruct products I got from Antics on line, they can be a bit pricey but you get 6 or so lengths per pack.

I'm planning on a dozen panels or so, a gate section and then 4 watchtowers which will comprise a small square bunker 6" tall with a roofed parapet on top, the top section will be removable to access the interior. In terms of area, they will house a small squad of infantry; 5 models I think to allow for combat squads or weapon teams. I don't want them too big or to be major bunkers. The towers will have panel supports in the middle of all four faces to allow full flexibility of set up.

As for the paint job; I'm planning on rusted metal, I'll be trying some rust effects I've not tried before.

More to come soon. As ever C and C welcome and stay tuned......

Midweek Snidbit - Objective Markers and Servo Skulls

Hi All,

Doc back with a little post to show my new objective markers for Maelstrom games of 40K.  These were inspired by Dales over on Realm of 40K here.

Nice and simple barrels numbered 1-6.  That should make the game easier.  Using dice never works somebody always picks one up!

The next thing I needed were some servo skull markers to go with my Inquisitor so I bashed these up out of the bits box and boshed them on code designs industrial bases.  Shameless plug time the bases can be purchased from Worcester Wargames.

Short and sweet that's all folks.  Next post Ill show off some of the armies from Worcester War 3.

Blood for the Blood God!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Red Mist here, as you know I've been quiet for a while now, but that doesn't mean I've not been busy.

Once again, in two weeks, the code40k guys are traveling down to Reading for SVAXIII and we all love a bit of SVA.

What to take this year?
Well after a short think I fell back on my first true love.... Khorne Chaos Marines.

So with a bit of TLC and some new bases and banners behold 'Harkan The Slaughterer' with his loyal, or is that underhand, champions.

As my fellow geeks on the code know, I love terminators, so what better than two squads.

The Brotherhood of Khorne...

and the Brotherhood of Iron...

Backing them up and providing some firepower a Veteran  Iron Warriors squad...

I love the Chaos Boon Table, pity then that nobody that I play ever excepts a challenge, you know who you are...

So I need  a Daemon Prince and a Spawn, just in case Chaos blesses me, one way or another.

A couple of years ago fellow blogger and scratch builder genius Hypaspist built two, yes two, warhound titans for an apoc game. Once the  smoke had cleared one passed into the loving care of Brother toonboy78.

The other a smashed, ruin scattered across the battlefield fell into the hand of my dark warpsmiths. Now two years on arise INDATOR MORTIS 'The Death Bringer' Titan of Khorne.

Look out SVA death is coming... and his name is Khorne!!!!

SVAXII in Pictures and few words

Hi All

DOC here, ok so the dust has barely settled on SVAXII and what a great weekend was had by all!  So normally what happens on the CODE40k blog is we all go crazy to get everything finished for SVA and all the vast majority of posting happens from Jan to March each year.  This year will be different....

Im not going to talk about lists or stats....  what i would like to talk about is the motivation it gives you seeing all the different painted armies.  HYPA has taken a shed load of photos which will be posted up in due course.  Some teesers from my mobile:

I would also encourage everyone to look at Ben's (Campaign weekend organisers Blog) where he has posted some great photos and talked through some of the highlights from the weekend.  He was a top guy and put in some serious effort so we could all have a shed load of fun.

Thats All for now folks

The Mekshop Paints-up

Well... It's time for me to come clean.

My Wife and Daughter got back from a month away and I didn't pick up a paintbrush for a significant amount of time... in fact, I took a long hard look at the nids and realised that I was never going to get them finished... so I have Switched my SVA army to my Imperial Armour 8 Orks...

... and was instantly happier about the decision.

Now whilst I didn't have enough time to paint up a bazillion Tyranid critters, I felt I *did* have enough time to paint up my Grot Tanks (more on them later) and also start a Stompa for the big 2000 Point game...

so, if you are going to SVA XII... and if you are on the (so Called) 'Good Guys' side... let me introduce you to Big Mek Stompnutz' latest crazy scheme...

it is simply entitled...

"Da Supa-Dakka Beakie-Smasha"

Built using the Imperial Armour 8 Kustom Stompa Rules, this ramshackle Titan sports such upgrades as The Gaze of Mork, a Deth Kannon with Coaxial Giga-Shoota, a Deff Arsenal (Shoulder mounted for extra special launch height!) and as many Big Shootas and Rokkits as I could reasonably fit onto it!

An Absolute 'Steal' at 740 points I assure you!

It is naturally still unfinished, however, the basics are there and it is being painted to fit in with my already Existing Dreadmob (in terms of colours) so without any further Ado....

Da Stompa!

More pictures to be released as I get more paintwork done :)

Now, onto the tanks....

You may remember seeing them at this stage...

They are now looking a lot better!

Now there is definitely some more detail work to be done (especially on the tanks with lights at the front!) but we are there or thereabouts, and I'm hoping these tanks will terrorise Beakies and Wimpy Guard alike in the coming weekends!!

Look out for some more Mek Updates (and a final publication for each list once I am all finished) over the next 7 days!
