Stepping between Games - #Squaduary Feb 2018. Heresy Era Imperial Fists, Rapier Quad Bolter Battery......COMPLETE!!

Hi All

#Squaduary entry complete! Huzzah! And with plenty of time to spare.
Here's my complete VII Legion Astartes, Imperial Fists, Rapier Quad Bolter Battery......

and several finished angles...

and a few of the later WIP shots...

and finally in the cabinet with the legion so far...

I'm pleased with them but I won't be using the "lazy" sepia wash technique again on my legion models as the finish is a little too dark, it's worth the extra effort and time to get a cleaner yellow tint to the mustard finish.

A big shout out to Rory over at "stepping between games" for once again providing motivation to the community. As with all this army I've really enjoyed painting them and the next couple of months will see me painting more "Fists"; this time primarily for 40k, using the same scheme so I can use most of the models in either 30k or 40k as the need arises. These 40k Imperial Fists are for my entry into "Battlefield Birminghams" doubles tourney in June, stay tuned for a lot more on that in coming months.

Stepping between Games - Squaduary Feb 2018. Heresy Era Imperial Fists, Rapier Quad Bolter Battery......Part 2

Hi All

Bluddtoof here with an update on my #Squaduary 2018 project; Imperial Fists Heresy Era Rapier Quad Bolters.
I've got the Main armour done and the base coat of all the leadbelcher down. WIP shots....

I am in reality a little further on as I've Nuln washed all the steel, just waiting for it to dry before taking photos. So I'm well on the way. That's the bulk of the time consuming stuff done, just the fun detailing left and then weathering etc.

More to come next weekend, hope you're all enjoying #Squaduary as much as I am.

Stepping between Games - Squaduary Feb 2018. Heresy Era Imperial Fists, Rapier Quad Bolter Battery

Hi All

Bluddtoof here with a post introducing my entry into "Squaduary Feb 2018" this years event hosted by Rory at "Stepping Between Games".

This is a great opportunity to get some motivation for painting up a unit, head over to his blog for more info and inspiration.

So as this is week 1; I've built the unit; a trio of rapiers with quad bolters.....

and applied a base coat of zandri dust which is drying as wee speak. (No pics yet)

It was a bit tricky getting the gunners right arm in the correct position so I played around with pinning and in the end I chopped off the lever that controls the gun carriage and replaced it with a jewellery wire pin into the hand. these are are all currently un glued so once it's all painted and I'm ready for assembly, I can adjust as needed. But I reckon they're pretty close as they are.

Heresy Era Imperial Fists; Characters and Command

Hi All

Bluddtoof here with some more of my expanding Heresy Era Imperial Fists; this is quite possibly the most enjoyable army I've ever painted in my 30 years in the hobby. So much fun to do and I'm really pleased with the finish too, so win win for me!
This project was to get all the character models I had painted up, these 4 models were part of my stag do present from the code boys and include Alexis Pollux and Sigismund and the Imperial Fists Command set; a Praetor and Standard Bearer.
The models were all nice and easy to build, I didn't do much in the way of modification except to change the Praetors pistol out for a serpenta, mainly cos I like the look of it. The only issue I had was with Sigismund's sword which was very warped, lots of heating and shaping later and it's now almost straight but simply wouldn't flatten completely.

Very pleased with these and the Legion is slowly growing.
Next up will be a Rapier Weapon Battery of 3 Quad Bolters and crew which will form my entry into "Stepping between games" "Squadruary" event.

The Code 40K Blog and Contributor Run Down

The Code Blog is a group of geeks talking about the hobby. Basically we'll talk about what we feel like and hopefully pass on some tips en route. Expect 40K mainly with a sprinkling of warhammer and terrain making (DOC's Favourite).

Ok a little bit about the contributors....

DOC
Terrain building is this guys forte, if your looking for tips on building it, he's the man. The organiser, if theres a big game to be had, he's the one jotting down ideas and writing up mission packs. Superb workhorse in terms of painting, whose skills are rising to a superb level, a testament being his recent nomination of best painted army at SVA XIII for his super neat Necron army which is expanding by the second. Look out for his Pre-heresy Death Guard, should be the pinnacle of his hobby so far.

LUKODAKKA
Luko is mega creative making his own obliterators from warhammer ogres, building his own greater daemon and building the bridge for big tooth river. Winner of the Shiniest Army Award at SVAXII with his Chaos Daemon Nurgle Army. Currently finishing his Adeptus Custodes & starting his Pre-Heresy project Sons of Horus. More daemons to come soon....

RED MIST
What can we say, this guy churns out armies like a Tervigon pooping out gants (Marines, Nids, Khorne, Imperial Guard, Necrons, Tau and Dark Eldar) and not only that but to a very high standard. Mist is a crisp, consistent painter and converter. The newly crowned winner of Shiniest Army at SVA XIII for his amazing Khorne Army, check out the Titan! New Tau is on his agenda currently with more Necron goodness i'm sure.

TOONBOY 78
I believe his mission is to collect every possible Space Marine Army list imaginable. I actually think he may even be a space marine. Owner of a humongous and ever growing Space Marine Army, Dark Angels are the latest addition after completing his powerful grey knight paladin list. A superb General who has been close to best general at SVA every year, perhaps next year will be his time...

TREVDOG HOWLER
Trev has been a gamer since time began, a real crisp painter and a lover of all things fluff. Trev is 'forging the narrative' personified, he often writes stories for our games and brings needed roleplay to the battletop. Owner of Sisters of Battle, Nurgle Chaos and Pre-Heresy Emperors Children Armies for 40K and, The Kingly, High Elves for Warhammer. Look out for some Fulgrim following Heresy quality from him soon.

INNER MECH
Back in TheCode40K team, after a long hiatus Paul is back with a vengeance, a "Dark Vengeance" you could say. Dark Angels are his flavour and by the looks of it, his deathwing flavour is looking rather tasty. Is currently preparing for Worcester War, his first 40k event, some pants painting might be on the cards for this 1st company fanatic!

DARK BRISTLES

After a brief guest role Bristles is now a fully fledged Code member. This guy has some serious paint skills, his Golden Demon pin can atestify to that. With a whole host of armies under his belt for personal & commission, his first love Dark Angels, his 30k Mechanicum & recently his Death Korps of Krieg are all of an outstanding level. We're all expecting something special from this guy.

DR GUMBY
Our newest recruit (well to the blog in any case). Dr Gumby is Mr laid back and also has a great conversion knack as you will see in his Space Wolves
