Showcase Knight Armigers - Battlefield Birmingham Prep Rolls on

Hi All,

Doc here to showcase my pair of Imperial Knight Armigers.  Love these figures and so pleased with the outcome.  In a copy of Boss Bludtoofs format I will do the showcase pictures first followed by some WIP shots.

I have decided to stick to the pre hersey Makabius colour scheme so they match my Acheron Knight.  Eventually I will move to the option to play a full knight army with a lancer and gallant squirrelled away still to be built.

The other reason I am happy with these is I am going further into a model before coming away from the airbrush.  I started just priming with the airbrush.  For these models I put first layers down on all the metal, metallic blue and cream.  Then I braved painting the feet and exhaust vents without masking and was pleased to find out my aim and skills allowed that to work.

I am also pleased with the basic conversion work to increase the movement in the poses and the raiding of the bits box bases have worked well also.  Right DOC enough waffle show us the minis!

Some WIP shots

Any constructive feedback is welcome.  I now have 6 Scions and 1 vulture left to complete before mid June Battlefield Birmingham event.

Cheers

Further Build Progress for the Cypra Incident and Battlefield Birmingham

Hi All,

Bit of a long time since any of us have blogged.  I know there is frantic work going on for for Golden Demon, Battlefield Birmingham and in mine and Boss's case The Cypra Incident.  For me its finding time to sit in front of the keyboard and share the progress which is challenging!

Anyway......  I promised last time to share the next BIG build project so here it is a massive treat to myself a while back

What's that you ask?

So daunting at the beginning..

I kept going...

The beast appears (Maraunder Bomber) after several hours work spread across multiple days.  Love the model hard work to put together.  None of the turrets are glued in this picture to aid the painting process.

I then felt the need to do a size comparison!  In mind its the ultimate super heavy flyer and will see its first action in the next cypra 'airfield mission'.

This means I have now concluded the build work for the next cypra mission.  However at this stage I still wanted to build something for my proposed Battlefield Birmingham list.

So with the advent of Forgebane and the new mini knights (armigers) I loved them.  Also as a necron player it added to that force also.  I was keen to get some movement into the poses and decided to make one running.  The 14" move rule prompted the posing in my head.  Also decided to make then have opposite weapon arms to each other for further variety.

The next job was a mega airbrush priming session!

Was super proud to have got to this stage and then a day later realisation that's a lot to paint!  Priority will be the units for Battlefield Birmingham the knights, vulture and scions.

Until next time when hopefully I will be showing you some painted minis or at minimum WIP.

Cheers

Doc

#Old Stuff Day

Hi All

So I've volunteered to do a post for #Old Stuff Day; an annual journey into the dim and distant blog past, led by Dave Weston at "Confessions of a 40k addict".
Link to his post here

I've spent some time looking through the code archives, battling snotlings in some of the dark and damp sections! I found these two gems from Doc and Trevdog; a nice little narrative campaign they started back in the mists of time.................

Follow this link for the first part of "CODE40K"

a piccie to tease...

and then this little link for the full write up of "CODE40K"

They wrote this before I joined the blog as a contributor and I have to say it was one of the things that got my blogging juices flowing. Just a really nice way to present and play this game we all love.
Cheers Doc and Trevdog!

So that's my look at an old Code40k post and here's a selection of links to other bloggers old stuff I particularly like......

Enjoy!

one of my favourites here from Violet Studio Paint

and one of the coolest flyers I've seen from Le Blog de Kouzes

and finally a really nice Knight from Musings of a Metal Mind

Hope you enjoyed all that and maybe you saw something new but old.

Thanks to DaveWeston for the prompt again.

Lords a Reaping 17; Questoris Knight Magaera, a bit more wip....

Hi All

Bluddtoof here with a quick update on the progress of my Knight Magaera, I've now taken most of the sub assemblies to the point where I need to put down the iconography.

I've also made my second ever attempt at osl; the first being fairly unsuccessful. Big shout out to the other code boys for their advice on this .

Pics...

1st two pics are before the advice from the boys, then there's 3 pics of my further work and the final pic is with a yellow glaze.

I'm pleased and I'm going to try more on this model; the coils on the lightning gun and the plasma fusil..

More pics of the current state....

I'm currently working on the legs, once I've got them to the same state as the rest then I'll do the iconography with transfers and freehand. Then osl and weathering and of course the base, not in that order of course.

More soon

Lords a Reaping 17; Questoris Knight Magaera

Hi All

Bluddtoof here with my first wip post in our annual winter painting shenanigans; Lords a Reaping!
I'm using this event to motivate me to finish my 2nd Imperial Knight, a Questoris Knight Magaera.
Posts for  my 1st Knight can be found here , here , here , also here , here , and here , here too , another , one more , this one too , almost there , and finally here .

I started this second knight earlier in the year, I spent ages thinking about colour schemes, I knew I wanted skulls and chains, so the build incorporates lots of chains hanging from the chassis and shoulder guards, the skulls will be in the heraldry. Still not sure where that's going yet though.

So as for the colours, I went with a two tone metallic green and purple scheme. I posted a couple of early shots previously but here's the state of play at the mo.....

I'm painting in sub assemblies, here's pics of the bits seperated...

The final green and purple are not what I envisioned originally but I like em, they remind me of the really old GW metallic range from the 90's.
They're mixed from kabalite green and genestealer purple, with vallejo metallic medium and a little thinners.

As ever c&c welcome and stay tuned for more Lords a Reaping throughout December from the other code boys too.

Projects, Projects, Projects!!

Hi All

Bluddtoof here, been a while since I posted and quite a while since I engaged in any painting too, what with a hot spell, a wedding and a major project in the garden.
I've got my motivation back now though and some time for the hobby, so I thought I'd just post a little update on my recent work and plans for the rest of the year...

So as you can see in some of my posts from this year I've started a 30k Imperial Fists army, currently part way through a breacher squad...

They'll need to be finished.....

However I kick started my mojo by jumping back to my 2nd Imperial Knight, a Questoris Magaera...

I'm gonna finish this bad boy before jumping to anything else, next will be the breachers to finish, then the Ork Burna Bomma I started a while ago and a Thunderbolts Contemptor I started even longer ago! And then of course I need to finish up my Blood Bowl Dwarves and Orcs

Posts for the Imperial Fists are here

Posts for the Blood Bowl teams are here , and here , and also here

and Posts for the Contemptor are here

Then once all of those projects are done I'm going to tackle my Stag present from the Code boys......
...an Acastus Knight Porphyrion! Love those Guys!!

So that's me done for now, stay tuned for progress reports over the next few months and hopefully by the end of the year all that will be done.
