More Thunderwolves Ride In and A New Bike Mounted Rune Priest

Hi All,

Doc back with some more preparation for the Cypra Incident: Birth of the Beast of Cypra campaign. Firstly I have added a couple more Thunderwolves to take me up to a full squad of 5.

These two have been added as none of the other 3 have high strength or AP2 weapons which has proven to be a weakness in the past.  I have to say I really love these models!

I have also kit bashed together a rune priest on a bike for not other reason than I thought it might be a nice option.

I will give this guy some glowing eyes in the paint job and paint the runes on the sword to glow also. He is also covered in many totems as befits his position within the chapter.

As always comments are welcome.

Cheers

Worcester War preparation

4 weeks today I will be driving over to Worcester to defend my title I won at WW1.
Since then a new marine codex has been released. Additionally forgeworld have released chapter traits for all their chapters. So much choice to choose from.
So which do I choose?
Well I have had a good think and I am going to go with a bike army. The new codex has significantly reduced the cost of bikes, so much so that compared to the 5th edition list I can get 4 squads of bikes rather than 3.
I have already got painted 3 squads and a captain. I have enough bits to make 2 further squads of bike, but I did not have enough bits so that they would fit in with a ravenwing theme like the others. The joy Of collecting marines is that they can be used in multiple ways.
So a quick purchase on eBay for loads of  ravenwing bits and I was ready..... Until I remembered grav guns. I needed 2 for a squad so 2 boxes of sternguard were bought too!
Here is the fourth squad built up. Some are still waiting for their bolters

And here are the grav gunners converted from DV plasma gunners

Finally my initial list is still a few points short, what could I use to fill it......scouts seemed a but boring and not sure how I would use them but a librarian on a bike....
Here is the guy I would base the model around

And in half

And finally on a bike

So I have a bit of painting to do but nothing as much as previous years. One final point is that I am basing all my attack bikes on 60mm bases.

SVA round up

First here is a picture of my biker list:

i just completed it in time for SVA, despite being let down by online retailers i managed to paint up the 2 storm talon in a week

these performed really well over the weekend and i will look forward to using them in the future

here are some close ups of the bike captain (converted from a DV biker sarg), 3 typhoons (who i one turn of shooting took out 20 ork boyz!, a small unit of scouts and the 3rd bike squad.

i still have a few of the details to pick out on the models but over all they have a good cohesive feel about them.

over the course of the weekend HYPASPIST ghost was with us. a few years ago he had built 2 warhounds for his dark angels army. When moving to the wastes he was unable to take them with him so he donated them to me and REDMIST. mine got repainted in my chapters colours while the other has fallen to the empty whispers of Chaos.

here they are facing each other in battle.

it didn't end in a glorious way for either titan, both being wiped out by the end of the game.

i am on a bit of a break for the moment, but when i am back i will complete my bikes and plan for something new.......

The numbers are increasing

I have at last managed to get a lot of my models build and under-coated. this has given me a solid base to get some serious painting done.

I bought the limited edition dark vengeance box set and here is the tactical squad from it:

They just need a ride now!

and like Boss Bloodtoof (who steals all my good ideas) i am a big fan of drop pods. i have 7 at the moment and intend to build a full drop company. here is the 1st tactical squad and their drop pod transport.

and with DOC copying my tactics with his crafty bike purchases, this one is one of the Ravenwing that I converted to my chapters colour scheme.

not sure what to paint next, terminators more bikes or so Dark vengeance characters.

Paladins Finished...at last

Well at last i have finished my 20 Paladins. They were due to be ready for the 1st week in July, so only 4 months late!

here are the last 5

here are some close ups

so the next question is what am I up to next? the answer is.....

BIKES

so these were purchased from Hyspaspist before he moved to Canada. i have always like the Ravenwing and i have been on the end of a beating or 2 from them in the past. i think that if i paint the white wings yellow then they should fit neatly into my army colour scheme.

and here is an example

i got 4 ravenwing boxes and 2 land speeder typhoons and a master of the ravenwing in a speeder. i also have 8 unbuilt bikes from my previous attempt to start a bike list, and also 6 unbuilt dark vengeance bikes and an unbuilt speeder. i have got another 8-10 bike and an attack bike in a bit of poor condition off eBay.

Tornadoes

to go with my Heavy Flamer and Multimelta squad

these bad boys have more than made their points back

2 typhoons

you can also see some of my eBay bike.

in total i think i have enough for a full mobile company

captain
command squad
5 full 8 man bike squads and attack bike (which can break down to raven wing attack squads if need be)
3 * 3 speeder squads

I think I also have a spare bike for either a librarian or chaplain.

hopefully my next post won't be so long away.
